My COVID-19 Story

In the spring of 2020, after experiencing symptoms including chest pain and difficulty breathing, I tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted into intensive care at the University of Chicago Medical Center. I was placed on a ventilator and soon developed complications with the blood circulation in my right hand, a condition that had been found to have a poor prognosis for recovery and had been associated with fatalities in several other COVID-19 patients. After treatment, the doctors ultimately determined that it was necessary to amputate the fingertips of my right thumb and index finger.
